The Civil Engineering Firm of Federici & Akin Engineers, P.A. was founded in 1981. Federici & Akin (F&A), headquartered in Washington Township, Gloucester County, N.J., has grown from a two-person operation into a multi-faceted, well respected engineering firm.
F&A has always prided itself on providing exemplary consulting engineering service to all its clients.  We are a Professional Association in the State of New Jersey authorized and licensed to provide professional engineering and land surveying services in New Jersey.  Resumes of the Principals and key personnel are attached at the close of this statement.
F&A currently provides consulting services to a number of municipal and county governmental agencies including those in Gloucester, Camden, Salem, & Cumberland Counties. F&A also provides private consulting services to a number of developers throughout the Delaware Valley in the areas of site development, major subdivisions, public and private utilities, etc. 
  The organization of F&A includes a strong professional staff of over 30 engineers, environmental scientists, geologists, land surveyors, deed researchers, computer specialists, construction managers and inspectors.  Our staff has proven experience and demonstrates skills in the planning, design and construction management of highway & transportation systems; wastewater collection and treatment; water storage, distribution & treatment; stormwater management systems; and other public infrastructure facilities.

Transportation Engineering

The staff of Federici & Akin, P.A. has designed and rehabilitated numerous roadways and infrastructure systems.  Our engineering resources include surveying, design, environmental, permitting, cost estimating & value engineering, preparation of contract documents, bid phase services and construction management.

With over 80 years of aggregate experience, the team of Federici & Akin, P.A. Consulting Engineers has established a long standing relationship with the surrounding public agencies and has developed a broad base of knowledge for a unique and cost-effective approach to civil engineering tasks.

Our new & expanded transportation engineering staff has gained over fifteen years of valuable experience and established working relationships with various County and State Agencies such as the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA), New Jersey Highway Authority (NJHA), and the Engineering Departments for the Counties of Gloucester, Camden, Cumberland and Atlantic, all in New Jersey. 

Water & Sewer Treatment Expertise

Our abilities are not only limited to water and sewer improvements, but include treatment design, permitting and management such as the Air Stripper Facility in Monroe Township, Gloucester County.

Over the past twenty years, we have established working relationships with many public agencies/authorities such as the Municipal Utility Authorities for Deptford, Monroe and Washington Townships, all in the County of Gloucester, New Jersey.

F&A's municipal engineering department has an aggregate of over eighty (80) years of highway, utility, infrastructure, planning & zoning board engineering experience as well as municipal engineer services for numerous municipalities such as Washington, Monroe, Harrison, East Greenwich, Mantua, Swedesboro, Deptford, Newfield, Pitman, all in Gloucester Co.; Mt. Ephraim, Winslow, Lawnside, all in Camden Co.; Folsom, Hamilton, Buena Vista, Galloway, all in Atlantic Co.; and Greenwich in Cumberland County.

Site Development

Our years of experience in site development engineering and management of site and infrastructure planning gives our prospective clients a high level of confidence in designing the most effective and impressive geometric/traffic circulation layouts and utility configurations.

We utilize technologic advances in underground storage and storm water quality in order to develop sites in densely populated urban areas.

Surveying & Mapping

F&A also boasts a well-experienced surveying staff. This division includes two (2) licensed land surveyors who have participated in or have supervised hundreds of surveying projects including topographic, outbound, horizontal and vertical control, construction layouts, as-built and hydrographic surveys.  They have also gained valuable experience in the use of Global Positioning System (GPS) surveying for performing large-scale outbound surveys, traverses, bench runs, farmland preservation surveys, etc. 

Our staff is also knowledgeable in the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for municipal infrastructure mapping with ESRI ArcView Information Management Software.

Our staff utilizes state of the art  Land Desktop 2006 Software in conjunction with the latest advances in engineering computer technology.  Digital Terrain and   3-D Modeling are a small sampling of the software we utilize.

Municipal Engineering

F&A's municipal engineering department has an aggregate of over eighty (80) years of planning & zoning board engineering experience as well as municipal engineer services for numerous municipalities such as Washington, Monroe, Harrison, East Greenwich, Deptford, Mantua, Swedesboro, Pitman, all in Gloucester Co.; Mt. Ephraim, Winslow, all in Camden Co.; Folsom, Hamilton, Buena Vista, Galloway, all in Atlantic Co.; and Vineland and Greenwich in Cumberland County.

F&A provides the most proficient and expert municipal engineering service by working closely with the municipal committees, solicitors and planners to assure that the most practical and effective engineering decisions are made to improve the municipality while emphasizing the long-term goals of the municipality and correctly interpreting current regulations, standards, Ordinances and the Municipal Land Use Law.  Being well versed in infrastructure and site development procedures and ethics, our municipal engineering staff therefore yields the highest quality of services.  Our high level of practical experience in overall infrastructure and master planning gives the F&A engineers an advantage when municipalities are growing and expanding their facilities.

Our Right-of-way Department has recorded over 25 years prior experience working for the State of New Jersey in the fields of engineering, right-of-way, land acquisition, etc.  Federici & Akin provides an exemplary level of engineering and management experience that will enable our office to complete the highest level of accuracy while implementing current "Quality Assurance/Quality Control" standards adopted by various governmental agencies.
